Part 2

Further to the earlier post, below is a further report about Carnival Spirit.

Below is a picture of the Atrium on Carnival Spirit.

As you can see from the picture, the Atrium goes from deck 2, though to the Nouveau Restaurant on deck 10 and provides an impressive open space inside the ship. At floor two is the lobby bar, which is a popular and central spot in the ship.
Image
On most evenings, the lobby bar had an entertainer (mostly guitar/singer) which seemed to work well, and the music echoed though the ship’s immediately adjoining arrears (photo gallery, etc).

I took this photo of the Monarch’s Room which is a small board game/card room adjoining the Fountain Café.

Pools

The Carnival Spirit has a good selection of swimming pools, with the main deck area spilt into two sections, with a pool in each section. The forward pool is show below:

..and the rear pool.

The ship also has an adult’s only area at the stern (rear), with another smaller pool.

The adult’s only area is quite large and easy to find a chair (which is often a problem on other ships).

Whilst on the outside arears, I will also show the mini golf area.

Entertainment

Carnival use the slogan the fun ship. I am not certain if this has been taken from P&O (who used to use that slogan back in the 80’s with Fairstar), or if P&O took it from Carnival or they developed it independently, however P&O no longer use this slogan.

The daily activities on Carnival is impressive. It was not unusual to have four (or more) trivias each day. Evening activities on most days included:
– Main Show 7.30pm
– Family Comedy 8.30pm
– Main show 9.30pm (repeat of first show)
– Adult’s Only Comedy 10.30pm
– Second Adult’s Only Comedy 11.15pm

At the link below is a sample daily program (FunTimes):

I like the fact that the FunTimes was available via the ships wifi as a PDF (hence the link above). This meant you can download and view it on your iphone (computer, ipad or any other smart device) meaning if you carry your phone with you (which most people do), you do not need to also carry the daily. Another good feature being that the daily schedule, was on a rip off section, making it handy to put in your pocket.

The main shows were of good quality, entertaining and had impressive props, also including pyro technics. The show names include 88 keys, Epic Rock, Getaway Island, 80’s pop to the max. Performers were of high quality and audience participation was included in some of the shows. A few ‘game’ type shows (during the day) were conducted, including marriage match and Hazbro, which surprised me as it was interesting and reminded me of the nostalgia of Connect 4, Simon and Monopoly. Below is a selection of photo from some of the shows:

Rooms

Rooms were modern and clean. The in-room TV system was good, with onboard account, shore tours booking all being able to ordered and completed via the TV.
